Days was awesome again this year. On Saturday
the 13th, we started the Hot Rod Happening with the very popular Poker Run.
This event started around 9am at the Zinc Lot behind Grant Avenue at Reichart.
Suzie at the Omelet House was cooking it up and her waitresses staff and
environment was decked out in 50's theme. Each entry car was given a map
and traveled the back roads around West Marin ending up at Infineon Raceway
for the Awards Ceremony around 1pm.Then on Saturday evening starting at 7pm, the Grant Avenue Classic Car Parade commenced. The parade route was located on Grant Avenue and Sweetser between Reichart and Machin. We had around 100 beautiful cars and fans 3 deep along the parade route. World famous Denise Athas and Skip Tozzi where the hosts. Skip was down with the cars talking to the drivers and Denise was on stage providing the color. They make a most amazing team. Music was provided by Rich Rodgers. A 'One Man Show' from New York. Rich has written great oldies hits like Barbera Ann, Runaround and Laura. He was situated at the foot of Sherman. All the restaurants along the parade route were rockin' busy, Las Guitaris, Grant Avenue Bar & Grill, Grazie, the Kitchen and Mui Pueblo.
Then on Sunday, August 14th, Novato's 9th Annual Car Show and Shine was held on the West side of Grant Avenue between Redwood and 7th Street. The Car Show and Judging started promptly at 10am. We had around 200 cars. A sea of Color and Chrome. The weather was amazing. Califormia Grill was cooking it up, Nostalgia Days Tee Shirts and Sweat Shirts were flying out of the Nostalgia Days booth. We had some amazing cars including a Bright Red Chevy Nomad topping out at $250,000. The awards ceremony was held around 2pm. Music was provided from 11 to 1pm by the Dave Crimmen Band, thanks to the Novato Arts Commission. From 1:30 to 3pm, Rich Rodgers doned the stage and closed the show.
